This Really Got My Attention

Traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony

The old saying “the way you do one thing, is the way you do everything” keeps surfacing in my life. When something appears three times or more, it definitely gets my attention. I have thought about this statement quite a lot lately; I believe it’s really true, and have even decided to put it to the test. This year I have decided to choose a focus area for personal growth, and now plan to do this each new year; I think that business growth and personal growth are really one in the same; when we increase our skills or lifestyle, we grow personally as a result of that … [Read more...]

3 Tips to Avoid Financial Analysis Paralysis

Recently, I wrote an article with 6 tips for finding good investment advice. From the feedback I received, this is an area that holds a lot of interest. In today’s post, I want to expand on avoiding paralysis by analysis, which is the first money expert tip. Here are 3 tips for avoiding analysis paralysis, which comes from having too much information, possibly even in the wrong areas altogether. 1.    Figure out where you need to focus first. If you need to increase your cash flow so you can start the initial funding of a savings plan, then there is no need to spend a lot of time … [Read more...]

5 Things I Learned from Writing “Earn Grow Give”

Last week I was honored to have a book signing for Earn Grow Give, my personal finance book for women, in my home town of Tupelo, Mississippi, at the downtown landmark retailer, Reed’s Department Store. I grew up with Catherine Reed, who works in the gift and book department, so, personally, it felt more like a homecoming than a business venture for me. I was truly touched by the support of each person who attended the signing, especially since writing and publishing a book felt like a big and scary thing in my life. Did you know that you have a book in you? Everyone does, I believe, … [Read more...]

My Black Patent Mary Janes

For today’s blog, I want to share one of my favorite paragraphs from my personal finance book for women, Earn Grow Give; Grow Your Money While Creating a Rich Life. I am celebrating its listing on Amazon this week, but I am planning a great big fun launch with lots of goodies in November in celebration of gratitude month. The largest crime my mom committed was requiring me to wear my black patent Mary Janes year round, instead of providing me with white shoes for the summer months. I still recall feeling as though I was the only girl in the entire universe without white shoes, completely … [Read more...]

7 Ways to Get Enlightenment

Today I finally sent my personal finance book for women to the publisher! Yes, I have said that before, but, of course, I just had to change it since I first sent it; I got the idea to change all of the quotes to ones in which I have personally connected with the source through a speech, a course or a book. I LOVE quotes, and it was important to me to share this. After this three year project, you can bet that I felt a sigh of relief immediately after uploading the LAST version of both the book and the cover. (I can’t wait to hear what you think of the cover design!) I had the profound … [Read more...]

Are you Platinum and Diamonds or Silver and Turquoise?

Personal finance all begins with your very own money reasons. This has become more evident as I have worked with women at Financial Woman. Before we talk about investing basics, such as stocks, net worth or increasing income, we need to first look at why money matters. These reasons create the rich life you want; they call you to pay attention to your money so you can accomplish what matters to you. I like to call this your money reasons. Today I want to reflect on personal style, since clothes, jewelry and shoes are common areas where women spend in ways that don’t support the life they … [Read more...]
